We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Technologist for our Guelph team. This role will report to the Engineering Manager, and will work closely with sales, production, quality and other engineering team members. The ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications, as well as possessing a solid background in metal fabrication, machining and welding processes, is preferred.

 Key Job Functions Include:

  • Create clear and detailed manufacturing work orders, using Visual ERP software
  • Select best manufacturing processes and compose accurate instructions/routings
  • Develop and implement Continuous Improvement and Cost Reduction Initatives
  • Create Cad "flat" layouts for formed parts and drawings for plasma burning
  • Make plasma burning programs and nests, using Pronest software
  • Design fixtures and templates to assist/improve manufacturability
  • Manage and control Engineering Drawings, Specifications and records
  • Investigate manufacturing quality issues implement corrective actions
  • Work closely with customers/suppliers to clarify requirements Manage deviations
  • Assist in quoting new parts support Sales team to secure/maintain partnerships

Qualifications include:

  • Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Technician/Technologist Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant manufacturing/fabrication experience
  • Familiar with manufacturing ERP systems (ie. Infor Visual)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Inventor (or equivalent 3D software)
  • Plasma/Laser nesting experience is beneficial (ie. Pronest)

The successful applicant will also have skills in the following areas:

  • Must be a team player, able to collaborate with others or work independently 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • Cost conscious, detail oriented, able to work accurately in a fast paced environment
  • Good time management skills, capable of prioritizing changing work load
